Numerical solution of Molodensky problem - Sideris & Schwarz (1988)

During period 1987- 88 saw many research developments on gravity field reported by Calgary group. One of them is a paper "Advances in the numerical solution of the linear Molodensky problem" by MG Sideris and KP Schwarz published in Bulletin Geodesique 62:5-69 (now known as J of G).

FIG Congress Toronto 1986

FIG Congress and Deformation Measurement Workshop are two important events to surveying community whom dealing with geodetic deformation analysis (GDA). In both events representatives of Commission 6 FIG were there to dissiminate knowledge and latest development on GDA.

The 18th FIG Congress was held in Toronto in June 1986.  A number of papers on GDA were presented and among the most importance were paper by Working Group 6.1 on deformation analysis (led by Adam Chrzanowski);

Visit to HK Land Department (2011)

Also in the itinerary of utility survey technical visit is the visit to Hong Kong Land Department (HKLD). HKLD is the authority body of all surveying and mapping tasks in Hong Kong similar to what Jupem is in M'sia.

Buda Utility Survey Company Technical Visit (2011)

A technical visit to BUDA - a prominent utility surveying company in Hong Kong has been materialized back then a few years ago (i.e., in 2011). BUDA stands for Buried Utility Damage Avoidance, a company which mainly engaged in underground utility survey and mapping using  most advanced technologies and equipment including GPR, PCL and CCTV.

This visit was arranged as part of the fact-finding mission for preparing the proposal and the syllabus for a new taught course program (MSc Underground Utility Mapping).

Visit to LSGI HKPU (2011)

Include in the technical visit program on utility survey is the visit to Land Surveying and Geo-Information (LSGI) Department of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU). This visit was arranged to share their experience in establishing the BSc in Utility Surveying program. This undergraduate program is the only one available in the world offered by academic department at university level.
