Met also another Fght geomatic graduate Bakeri Sulaiman, a Surveyor at JTS. Bakeri is attached at Kuching Branch. Bakeri graduated in 2005 and his FYP is entitled "Analisis transformasi parameter BT68-WGS84-GDM2000 di Sarawak". The work was supervised by Dr AHO.

JTS Fght Alumni

While at JTS I have the opportunity meeting many Fght alumni who work there. One of them is Mr Genot Ak Sinel@Jennoth attached to Sri Aman Survey Branch. Genot graduated in 2003 and his FYP is entitled "Keberkesanan pembangunan tanah hak adat bumiputera (HAB) di Sarawak".

Mr Genot has won an International Convention Scholarship Award from Sarawak Convention Bureau - ASPRS UAS Symposium 2014, October 2014 (Reno, Nevada, USA) (source).

Genot also has received Sarawak Honours List of Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji PPT (Gangsa) in 2008 (source).

Genot is also a Vice President of The Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) for the 2017-2019 period (source).

Dinner Program JTS - Restoran See Good

Pada malam ketiga team UTM dibawa ke satu lagi majlis dinner. Kali ini tuan rumahnya ialah Encik Romzi dan beliau membawa kami ke Restoran See Good. Restoran yang terkenal dengan hidangan sea food. Ramai pengunjung restoran dua tingkat ini. Tingkat bawah adalah ruang terbuka manakala tingkat atas disediakan bilik tertutup yang biasa nya telah ditempah khas. Tuan rumah sudah menempah bilik tingkat atas yang muat untuk lapan orang.

Encik Romzi merupakan pelajar batch tahun pertama yang memula pengajian di kampus Skudai pada sesi 1988/89. Beliau grad pada 1993 dengan KTK tajuk "Ujian kesesuaian kaedah differential untuk kerja ukur  kejurutraan".

In the second day of JTS workshop a presentation on height modernization was given. The talk covers on the concept of height modernization and a short review on geoid modelling.

JTS Dinner - Sarawak Club House

After finished the day one session in the night we were treated with a special dinner. The dinner was held at the Sarawak Club House and hosted by a practising land surveyor, Mr Bong. He is also contributing in the establishment of Cors point for the survey project. The dinner was attended also by two JTS officers Encik Ruslan (ADS) and Encik Romzi.

Mr Bong Seng Kui is a License Surveyor with Ukurrancang Perunding Sdn Bhd - UP (link - up). He graduated with BSurv from Queensland Uni in 1986. The UP office is at Rubber Road, Kuching. The full list of LS in Sarawak can be obtained here - surveyboard.

At the JTS workshop I was given a slot to present on the status of Sarawak precise levelling network (SPLN). The presentation covers on the brief history of the SPLN, the development work done by Jupem and the status and results of latest adjustment of SPLN.

A workshop on introduction to CORS and UAV was held in Kuching on Nov 27-28. The workshop was jointly organized by Jabatan Tanah dan Survei Sarawak (JTS) and UTM (GnG Research Group).

Geoid for Sultanate of Oman (2017)

The project for computing geoid for Oman has been accomplished by researcher from York University, Canada. The research project was completed and culminated into a MSc thesis by Patrick Lasagna in the graduate program of earth and space science. The work was supervised by Prof Spiros Pagiatakis.
