A little bit more on Tao Yuan name changed. It was first announced in early September 2006, and caused a stir from oppossition. Read more about it here. More stories about the name changed is reported here.

Taipei Tao Yuan Airport

Air traveller to Taipei arrive at Tao Yuan International Airport. The airport was formerly known as Chiang Kai Shiek - CKS Airport. Name change was in 2006(?) .. not sure exactly when was it.

MH flight arrival time is at 2.40pm daily. The flight from KL is about 4 hour and depart at 10am. Immigration check and pasport clearance is quite smooth - that was what I experienced during my visit in early December 2006. The que was about 15 minutes + 5 min clearance check.

Setem Malaysia 1980

Tesis Geodesi 1980

 

Berikut adalah beberapa tesis yang dihasilkan pada tahun 1980. Tesis dari tiga universiti - Nottingham, UNSW dan UNB. Judul kajian menunjukkan bahawa;

- EDM berperanan pula dalam kerja deformasi.

- VLBI menyumbang dalam kerja geodetik.

- Kepentingan fizikal geodesi mula memain peranan dalam aplikasi satelit geodetik.

Geodetic Reference System 1980

 

Salah satu resolusi penting IUGG 1979 adalah ketetapan pemakaian sistem referens geodetik baru iaitu GRS 1980. Sistem referens baru ini mengganti GRS 1967. Ketetapan parameter yang mendefinisi GRS 1980 diterbitkan dan telah dimuat dalam banyak penebitan geodesi. Salah satunya adalah dari sumber berikut - iag/aig (link).

Buku Field Astronomy for Surveyors 1980

 

Sebuah buku 'Field Astronomy for Surveyors' oleh GG Bennette dan JG Freislich terbitan UNSW Press. Terbitan pertama pada tahun 1979 dan diulang cetak pada 1980. Bennette pemegang phd dari UNSW manakala Freislich BSc dan FIS Asutralia. Tebal buku 260 m/surat.

Kandungan:

The use of field astronomy; The solar system, the celestial sphere, and the astronomical triangle; Time and time keeping; Observations; Determination of latitude; Determination of longitude; Determination of azimuth; Sun observations; The simultaneous determination of latitude and longitude; Prediction.

Perbincangan mengenai field astronomy mula hilang signifikan apabila teknologi GPS muncul pada pertengahan 1980-an.
