IAG Symposium 106 "Determination of the Geoid: Present and Future" was held in Milan, Italy in June 1990. The proceedings of the symposia was convened and edited by Richard Rapp of OSU and Fernando Sanso of Politecnico Milano. The paper presentations were organized into five main themes as follows;
- Global Geopotential Models - present and future (chaired by Richard Rapp)
- The role of topography in geoid computations (chaired by Rene Forsberg)
- The geoid and GPS (Wolfgang Torge & Hans George Wenzel)
- Theoretical improvements in the determination of the geoid (chaired by Sanso)
- Software and data improvement for geoid computations (chaired by Tscherning)
