Geodesist Pavel Vyskocil (b.1934)


IAG Proceeding IAG 101 was edited by three prominent geodesist which include Pavel Vyskocil of Czech Republic. Pavel Jiri Vyskocil, Czech geodesist was born on February 9, 1934 in Praha Czechoslovakia. He obtained Diploma in Engineering from TU Praha in 1957 and DSc TU Ostrava in 1994. He worked as Assistant Researcher at Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography & Cartography, Praha 1959-1966; as Researcher (1967-1977); Senior Researcher (1978-1983); Chief Researcher (1984-85); and Science Deputy Director (1992-94). He was also Director of International Center Recent Crustal Movements, Praha (1976-1996).

His achievements include first estimation of recent dynamics of Czech Republic; maps of vertical movements in Europe; project for monitoring recent movements and seismicity in Aswan, Egypt. Recipient Memorial Silver Medal Czechoslovakia Academy of Sciences, 1984, Memorial Medal National Research Institute Astronomy & Geophysics, Helwan, Egypt, 1987.
