Geomatics Purdue University

 

Purdue University mempunyai grup geomatik di bawah jabatan civil engineering. Unit Geomatik Purdue kecil sahaja di anggotai empat staf akademik. Yang paling tokoh adalah professor Ayman Habib yang dulunya pernah berkhidmat di Calgary dan juga OSU. Bidang kepakaran beliau adalah fotogrammetri. Selain Ayman Geomatik Purdue turut ada seorang akademik berasal Wuhan dan seorang berasal dari Seoul National Uni. Bidang mereka adalah satellite-based mapping dan image analysis.

Surveying Team N-Upon Tyne

Program surveying di Newcastle-Upon Tyne  menghasilkan ramai juruukur Malaysia. Menurut website sekolah tersebut;

- Our origins are in the first Joint Honours degrees in Surveying, introduced by Newcastle University in 1967. We operated for many years under the names of Surveying and later Geomatics. Since 2019 we have been Geospatial Engineering.

Geodesi Satelit dan Ocean Tidal Loading

Salah satu kajian dalam geodesi adalah mengesan pergerakan permukaan bumi mengguna teknologi satelit. Ada banyak perkara yang diambil kira dalam memastikan hasil kerja pada tahap kejituan yang memuaskan. Salah satu hal yang menjadi cabaran adalah mengenal pasti kesan ocean tidal loading kepada model pergerakan.

Dalam hal yang sama dapatan kesan ocean tidal loading dari satelit geodesi boleh pula diguna pakai untuk tujuan geofizikal. Satu contohnya adalah guna pakai dalam kajian tentang kerak bumi. Hal sebegini bolehlah dikaitkan seolah-olah sebagaimana masalah telur dan ayam mana yang datang dulu?

This thesis presents the descriptions of contemporary observational and modeling techniques used to explore Earth’s deformation response to OTL and other varieties of surface mass loading. With the aim to extract information about Earth’s density and elastic structure from observations of the response to OTL, the investigation was done on the sensitivity of OTL-induced surface displacements to perturbations in the material structure.

Volkanologi dan Geodesi Satelit

Pemakaian teknik geodesi dalam mengkaji volkano telah bermula sejak penghujung kurun ke19. Usaha geodesi volkanologi menjadi lebih giat dengan adanya teknologi geodesi satelit yang mula mencapai kemuncaknya pada 1980an. Antara aktiviti yang menjadi perhatian adalah volkanologi di Amerika seiring dengan teknologi satelit GPS yang dibangun di sana.
