Marine gravity filed determination - U of Calgary (1996)

Another MSc work at U of Calgary is "Detailed marine gravity field  determination by combination of heterogenous data". The research was done by Jinwen Li and submitted 1996. The research was supervised by MGS and JARB with help from IN Tziavos of Greece.

Geoid computation at laser tracking stations - Despotakis (1987)

Geoid computation has always been a major effort of the researcher at OSU GS Dept. In 1987 a report (also a PhD work) on "Geoid undulation computations at laser tracking station" was documented as OSU Report 383. The work was done by Vasilios Despotakis and supervised by Richard Rapp.

A paper on the same topic by Despotakis was published in BG 1989 - 63(4) pp.342-358.

Sarawak Survey Congress 2018

RISM Sarawak Branch is organizing 2018 Survey Congress to be held in Kuching on 17-18 April 2018. On the first day only one out of five presentations will be on geomatics. The paper on geomatic entitles 3D City Modelling is to be presents by Sarawak LSD. Two presenters from FGHT – Prof AAR and PM TAM will participate in the Congress. The former will deliver presentation on Geoinformation particularly on City Modelling while the latter on CORS network infrastructure.

Spatial measurement with consumer digital camera - PhD 2008

Use of digital camera for photogrammetric work has gaining popularity ever since the digital camera being marketed to consumer in mid 1990s. By early 2000s research work on photogrammetric using digital camera has started.

A doctoral thesis "Spatial measurement with consumer grade digital cameras" by Rene Wackrow was submitted to Loughborough Uni in 2008. The thesis was supervised by Jim H Chandler (James Henry Chandler) at the Dept of Civil and Building Engineering. The digital camera used were Nikon Coolpix 5400 and Nikon D80.

Kai Borre 1947-2017

Kai Borre was a professor in geodesy at Aalborg University since 1976. He has published a number of books on geodesy, surveying adjustment, GPS as main author as well as co-author. Kai Borre was born in 1942 and passed away on Aug 24, 2017. Look at (source) source 2

After his retirement from Aalborg Borre continued his academic contribution working at Samara National Research University (researchgate). He started there in Fall 2014 (source - gnss).

Borre also has contributed with geodetic activities in Lithuania (taylor&francis).

The Hunt for Earth Gravity (2018)

Another new book "The Hunt for Earth Gravity" which should excite the geomatics/geodetic community. The book is not yet available but will soon publish by Springer.
